About Zion Central Middle School
Misson Statement: Excellence Without Exception
Vision Statement: In partnership with families and community, Zion Elementary School District 6 strives for educational excellence through:
Teaching, Empowering, Advocating, Motivating
Zion Central Middle School is a diverse community of learners. There are approximately 600 students, 7th and 8th graders, enrolled. Zion Central’s faculty is dynamic and innovative, currently organized along the lines of a team concept, where instructors for a given group of students are put in cross-functioning grade level teams. These teams meet regularly to discuss student issues and concerns.
The extended curriculum is captured through Exploratory Classes which include courses in technology, Fine Arts, Foundations, and Health.
ZCMS is a PBIS school and to encourage good behavior, staff and administration participate in Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). This program is a proactive system based on rewarding students for appropriate behaviors versus a strictly reactive system based on negative consequences and discipline.
A Parent Coordinator serves as yet another bridge from Zion Central as a liaison between parents, students, staff, administration, district administration, and the community. The parent coordinator works with the building administrators to enhance efforts of communication and activities for all stakeholders.
